ART and WRITING CONTEST FOR KCKCC STUDENTS (Deadline EXTENDED: March 22, 2024)

All students currently enrolled in classes at Kansas City Kansas Community College, including KCKCC TEC programs, are eligible to enter the contest. Entries will be grouped into one of three categories: PROSE     (short stories, novel chapters, plays, screenplays, personal essay or memoir) POETRY   (includes spoken word / rap style submission (lyrics only, please, no video entries)) ART         (all media, including photography, sculpture, graphic design, painting, etc.) Students may submit work to all categories: 2 pieces of writing (prose), 4 poems, and/or 4 visual art images. ALL ENTRIES MUST COMPLY WITH OUR SUBMISSION GUIDELINES, which are posted below on this website. Students may submit work to all categories. Faculty members of the Kansas City Kansas English and Art Departments will judge the entries and decide upon a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winner for each of the categories. Art Submission Guidelines

Art Submission Guidelines - Updated Spring 2024 Send All Submissions to ScenicRouteLitMag@gmail.com 1) Maximum of four (4) images allowed per student 2) Only  original  student artwork is accepted. Visual artwork includes (but is not limited to): drawings, paintings, sculpture, ceramics, mixed media, fiber arts, printmaking, photography, graphic design, illustration, and digital art. 3) Images should be saved as .JPG or .PNG (300+ DPI, high-resolution images recommended) 4) File names should only include the title of the piece and the year it was created. Do not include your name in the uploaded image file!  Artists remain anonymous to jurors during the selection process.  File name  e xamples: artworktitleandyear.png, untitledpainting2023.png Notes : 2D artwork can be scanned in the Mac Lab / Graphic Design Studio (2106 Humanities, across from the Art Studio), when classes are not in session. The DIGI class schedule is posted outside the studio. If your artwork is framed, take it out
